Aquarium in the Desert

Yesterday we got out of the house to do something fun. I decided to try out the aquarium in Sandy. We invited grandma and Grandpa to come with us, so we met up and went together. The place is in aan old grocery store building, but considering where we live I guess it is pretty cool. it is hard not to compare it to the Monterey Bay Aquarium where we went so many times when we lived in California. This one is called The Living Planet. It is a lot cheaper than the one in California, though :) They have a large section with Utah fish, and then a tropical section with the obligatory Nemos. It seems the Doris didn't make it, but they have rays to touch, and an octopus, seahorses and some sharks. The girls got to touch some starfish and horseshoe crab. We happened to go on a day there was a radio station broadcasting, so they had prizes. Isabel spun the wheel and won Kung Fu Panda! Although I don't think it's appropriate for their age, we'll put it away for later. They also had really great face painters and the girls got a whale and a butterfly. After all that we went out for lunch and headed home. It was a good little outing, and made the day go much faster.
As for Scott-he has been in Georgia almost a month now, and is enjoying his class. He is doing a lot of police training right now, like using the baton, handcuffing, special driving, pepper spray and all kinds of fun stuff. He has met some good people out there at school and at church. One church guy has all the BYU games, so Scott has been able to go watch them, which was something we couldn't do here with our Dish Network. There are a lot of interesting things to do out East and so he has been to Florida and has plans to go to West Virginia to see his cousin. He has also been able to be a designated driver to take a guy to the hospital after he pulled a branch down on his head at a bonfire. I guess we all miss each other but are doing ok. My girls seem to be doing great, but we are so excited to see Scott at Christmas for a few days. My mom will be here on the 25th, so we are also excited about that. It will be nice to have an extra set of hands around.
