Baby BOY Shower

Once we found out we were having a boy, the family wanted to do a shower for us. The idea was pretty scary to me, but as time went on it started to sound more fun. I was most excited to see old friends. On March 8th we were able to go to Orem and have the shower. There were a few bumps in the planning and a few mysteriously lost in the mail invitations, but over all it turned out cute and fun. I ended up doing the decorations which was fine and we had a good time putting them together. Here are the invites:

A lady in Highland made this cake.
I guess the theme was "woodland"  or twigs in a can. and burlap. But they were sweet.

I was able to borrow some wooden accents someone had made for a Relief Society conference here, so that was helpful and I loved the little clotheslines.
We did not do games, but had a jelly bean guessing contest, asked for name ideas and advice for raising boys.
The gift table, the words say "Boy oh Boy"  I put my camera away after setting up, so I need pictures with people in it! I hate it when I do that! If you have any, email me! We had yummy sandwiches, cupcakes, fruit and other things. Mostly we just visited. It was fun to see that even though all my friends were from different parts of my life and did not know each other, when you get a bunch of girls together they always find something in common to talk about. I was also so grateful for their willingness to help with my little hat project.
I was so blessed. Not only did I get to see some old friends, some who I hadn't seen since college and lots of other great family and friends(even Grandma CC from Canada was able to fly down!), but they were all so generous. I can honestly say that I love everything we got. Boys clothes are cute! So we have lots of things with sports and trucks and boy stuff. I am so grateful to everyone who came. I was informed by many people that even if me and Scott are ok with him wearing pink, they are not.
We got diapers, soap and wipes. These items I have been too nervous to buy myself so I am happy we have a little bit to get us started.
I went through everything and pulled out the smallest sizes that we will need first. I have a drawer full of cuteness, and then some.
Some of the blankets we got. Many are from Grandma Jane, who is so excited about the first grandson in 14 years, others that were sent from friends and family. They are all so adorable, thank you. I was able to put away a lot of my girly blankets since we have more than enough new ones. This little guy will be very comfortable and stylish. Although I still hate being the center of attention and it was a little crazy leading up to the shower, I had a lot of fun and just wished we could have had a few more hours to hang out. I know that this little boy coming after all these girls deserves everything of his own that he can get, he is special and worth all of it. All this blue is very different, but I know we will love using it. I love my girls' reactions to all the "cuuuuuuuuute" things. Thanks!

Lauren's First Birthday

At the baby shower we had a table for Lauren. I wanted to include her and her birthday, without taking away from Baby Brother's special day. I had some extra supplies to make hats so we set those up and my awesome friends and family finished them all up.Jane (Scott's mom) got the pretty flowers for us.
After the shower we went up with the family to the grave, sang to her and blew bubbles. The kids had a lot of fun with that.

Blowing bubbles across Aunt Susan and Lauren's graves
Wednesday night it was calm enough and Scott was home, so we tried out the sky lanterns. They were a little tricky, some ripped and any little breeze could cause problems, but they were cool when they worked.
Each girl wrote on a lantern for Lauren
Isabel's
Whitney's
Sara's

Abby's

We went camping Friday which was her actual birthday, we took little cupcakes and pink candles, sang and they all blew out the candle. It was good to get away from everything and just be quiet and with our family. I wish we were sharing pictures of a messy little one year old digging into a cake, but we did our best and we made it through.
I don't think I can really go into everything the last week brought. Sometimes I feel like sharing, not so much right now. The birthday itself was manageable and we did it just fine. There were other days that were really hard leading up to it. There are questions and a lot of unknowns with the new baby and worries and all of it rolled together can be very difficult. I wish I could say it has been a year and I am feeling better or more like myself, but the deja vu with this pregnancy and everything else just makes it seem like yesterday that we lost her. I remember it all so clearly, and we still miss her so much. But I know we will get to see her again someday, and I feel her near. We love you Lauren, Happy Birthday.

Camping Trip-New Tent Trailer

After years of discussion and looking online at trailers, we finally took the plunge and got one. We found this on KSL classifieds. We were going up to Orem for the baby shower and Scott was able to go look at it one day and then we bought it before heading home. We are the third owners but it is in really great shape and pretty well taken care of. It has 2 king size beds and a pop out table which adds so much room. It has a big storage area on the front and under most of the seats. It does have a little shower\toilet combo but we won't use it often. It wasn't something we had to have, but the rest of this trailer was so good we went with it.We are still figuring it all out. We got it home and opened it up to clean and inspect it. I washed and bleached and Febreezed so that it could feel more like "ours." I ordered new mattress covers, and thanks to Amazon Prime they were here in no time. The girls are so thrilled, they played in it and invited their friends in.

 little fridge
We packed up and left Friday morning just for an overnighter.
The trailer with stuff in it
We went south past Blanding to a place called South Cottonwood. It has the coolest stream with sandstone waterfalls. I thought for sure there would be people there because of spring break, but we got it all to ourselves.

Whitney loved the sand, although she wasn't successful in making sand castles.
The hot and tired pregnant lady decided the water was too tempting, and before we knew it all the girls were wading. It was fun, and good for these poor desert Utah kids who don't get to play in the water much.

After the stream we drove up the mountain so Scott could show us some sites. This is an old mine transfer station.

 Isabel jumping
 Old stuff
 We had tinfoil dinners
The moon was gorgeous and bright. The night was chilly and we were glad we had blankets. There is a heater but we ran out of batteries but it's ok. We will figure it out.

Some cool trees by the camp

It was good to get away for a bit, good to take the girls camping which has been hard since they were so little (and horrible sleepers) and Scott works so much, especially in the summer. But we are committed to doing it more often and doing little trips as much as we can. The little guy will have to be flexible and we hope he will sleep. Thankfully the girls are big enough that it seems doable. We are grateful we can have the opportunity to make good memories for our family camping like we both did growing up. We will get these girls toughened up and teach them the ways of the camp soon enough. In the morning Dad cooked "dirty hash browns" and we played some more, packed up and went home to shower off all the sand and do the laundry before Sunday.
